AI incidents and EU AI Act

The EU Artificial Intelligence Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) is the first comprehensive legal framework regulating AI systems in the European Union. It classifies AI systems by risk level and imposes obligations accordingly.

For high-risk AI systems, the Act requires conformity assessments, technical documentation, transparency obligations and human oversight. It entered into force in August 2024.
